Product Details
Madhubani painting is an ancient style of painting that originates 2500 years ago. Madhubani art also known as Mithila painting is a traditional Indian folk artwork done on canvas, cloth, floor, walls, paper etc. It is named due to its origin in the Mithila region of India and Nepal, where women spent a lot of time making these paintings using their keen sense of beauty to create evocative paintings of gods and goddesses, animals and characters from mythology, marriages, festivals, Sun and Moon and many more.
Madhubani painting is characterised by its eye-catching geometrical patterns and vibrant colors. Generally, no space is left empty; the gaps are filled by paintings of flowers, animals, birds, and even geometric designs.
These painting has remained confined to a compact geographical area and the skills have been passed on through centuries. Madhubani painting has received GI (Geographical Indication) status.
Do expect slight colour variations or brightness due to digital photography or mobile-computer monitor settings.
